ABOUT BOLIVIA
Bolivia is a land-locked South American country surrounded by five other nations. Bolivia gained its independence on August 6,1825. It is nestled in the heart of the Andes, and it boasts diverse landscapes from the vast Amazon rainforest to the mesmerizing Salar de Uyuni salt flats, which is home to the largest salt deposit in the world and is larger than the US state of Hawaii. Home to the world's highest capital, La Paz, and the historic city of Sucre, it's a land of vibrant cultures, ancient traditions, and stunning biodiversity. Rich in mineral resources, it holds the largest reserves of lithium, vital for renewable energy. Nearby is glass-smooth Lake Titicaca, the continent’s largest lake, straddling the border with Peru. Bolivia is the home to over 30 official languages, and three of the six world's flamingo species can be found in Bolivia.
