SCHOOL INFORMATION:

Founded in 1955 as the American Cooperative School of La Paz as a non-denominational, non-profit Corporation School.  It was organized by parents as a Calvert System school to provide an education in English for their children.  In 1960, the school was moved to its present site when the beautiful “Casa del Sol” was purchased.  The site of the old Patiño estate and the new American Cooperative School furnished enough land so that the school could expand to include (as of 1974) a primary, an elementary, and a high school wing, an auditorium, an athletic field with showers and locker rooms, and a science lab. The multi-national student body expanded from a student body of 36 students in 1955 to over 500 students in 1974.  There were more than 20 nationalities represented in the student body.  Of these, 50% were Americans, 30% were Bolivians and 20% were various other nationalities.

CLASS INFORMATION:

The Class of 1974 is made up of 31 students, three of whom have passed (RIP Dennis Farah, Winnie Frederick, and Maria Eugenia Alvarez).  We were born in Bolivia, India, USA, Serbia, Japan, Israel, Chile, Cuba, and Mexico.  Our nationalities are 51% USA, 39% Bolivia, and 10% Other.  While a couple of us split our time between living in Bolivia and the USA, 32% live in Bolivia, 54% live in the USA, and 14% live elsewhere (Mexico, Serbia, Spain, and Germany).  What we all have in common is:

• Time spent living in Bolivia,
• Being influenced by our school Director, Dr. Bill J Brisco, our high school principal, Harold (Skip) Houser, our class sponsors Mary Beth Ressler and Larry Smith
• Graduating with the Class of 1974
